The Doctors'

GREAT MINDS
THINK ALIKE.

Even though we’re a young country, New Zealand’s always had plenty of clever folks keeping us at the sharp end of innovation. From splitting the atom to inventing instant coffee, we’ve always had forward thinkers keeping us ahead of the curve. You can add winemakers John and Brigid Forrest to that roll call of pioneers. A pair of dedicated Doctors with a yearning to find something new, they kept asking “what’s next?” Their curiosity led them to the traditions of winemaking and the idea that, just maybe, wine’s future lay in mixing the old ways with something new. “What if,” they thought, “we could lower the alcohol content to up the enjoyment factor?” And the creative seed that would grow to be The Doctors’ range was planted.

40% less alcohol – 40% less calories

100% fantastic tasting wines.

That’s a pretty great result that’s taken plenty of creative thinking and calculated risk to achieve. But what makes it beautiful is the simplicity. Simply put, we’ve perfected a delicious full flavoured wine by slowing the grape plant’s ability to make sugar but not its ability to make flavour. And it’s all done sustainably, in the vineyard. No chemistry tricks or genetic engineering wizardry here. Just sustainably grown, naturally produced lower alcohol wine. Oh, and one more thing: it’s not really a secret. We believe so strongly in the potential of low alcohol wine, we’ve shared everything we’ve learned about the process with the New Zealand industry. Wine’s about sharing, after all. Why keep it to yourself?
